Psalm 90:1 God Is My Home

Psalm 90:1 My Home Is In God

1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.”

Psalm 90:1

In America countless believers are homeless.

Either living on the streets or out of their cars, staying with relatives or friends, it is estimated there are over 500,000 homeless in the US.

Unfortunately for me, I was homeless on multiple occasions.

I was in between homes when I left for the military back in Canada, and traveled to Florida to try start a life. Instead of thriving and establishing myself in Fort Lauderdale, I ended up at Broward General Hospital in a coma after I got mugged and beaten half to death.

After a few weeks in the hospital, and a few rounds of surgery to my head and face, with my jaw wired shut, I headed back to my parents’ house in Rimouski, Canada.

Fast forward 5 years or so, and there I was again, in between homes in Montreal. I slept at friends’ places, lived out of my car until I saved up enough money to get a small efficiency apartment.

By the grace of God, that was the last time I felt homeless.

God Is My Home

By faith, I follow Jesus.

In His grace and mercy, God follows me.

He watches me and hears me. God feels me.

Our heavenly Father knows our hearts and He wants a relationship with each one of us. He loves us and His love is unconditional.

Knowing this, and considering Yahweh is omnipresent, believers are blessed with the divine peace of God.

The kind of peace that’s found in a home.

No one can control all circumstances in their lives. Like a boat on the sea, we can’t control the wind, but we can adjust our sails.

The same applies to our lives. We are not in control, but passengers on a great big ship called life. And God is the Captain.

When we focus on God, and the great commission, the meaning of life is redefined. The concept of home becomes something bigger, something different.

Focusing on God will not necessarily put a roof over our heads, nor put food in our bellies or clothes on our backs, but a life devoted to serving the Lord has its advantages. After all, we are just travelers on this Earth and God is our eternal abode.

20For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Philippians 3:20

With God as our guide, we are never alone. With Jesus in our hearts, we are never homeless.

God is our home, our refuge. Seek Him in all you do, and His peace will flow from within you.

Father God;
We thank you for your presence in our lives,
We praise you Lord for the wisdom found through David and Paul,
And we ask you Lord to help us find joy in your perfect plan.

Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through your Word, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by the truth as we spread the good news to one and all,
And lead the lost to You.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us,
To bless our lives and fill us with hope.
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and our place with you in Heaven
According to your ways, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done, here on Earth and through the vast Universe,
May our hearts be filled with your everlasting love and grace.
Praises to You God, Amen!
