Proverbs 14:23-24 Hard Work Pays Off

Proverbs- 14:23-24 Hard Work Pays Off

23 In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches, But the foolishness of fools is folly.

Proverbs 14:23-24

In His word, God teaches us there is profit in labor and that mere talk leads to poverty.

The Bible also addresses the wise, and their wealth as well as fools and their harvest which is folly.

What is folly?

It’s lack of good sense, something useless or unwarranted.

In this proverb, God chose the word folly as a symbol of the fools’ wasted time and energy.

One example is a woman who sweeps her house floor twice a day, but ignores the dust on the furniture, smudges on the windows and the mold in the bathrooms.

The result would yield a home that’s not as clean as it should be if the worker used common sense, and spread out her time and energy throughout her house.

Doing so would be wise, and it would yield more profit.

Throughout the Bible, there’s a clear message about hard work versus laziness. God teaches us that living a lazy life leads to suffering and poverty.

God made us in His image, and we were created for a purpose. We have been given minds and bodies meant to serve Him.

It’s our mission to put on His armor and honor Him in our lives, in our work and in our relationships using the gifts we have received from God.

Work For His Glory

There’s more to laboring for God than just doing the work. Anyone can do their job well enough to get by, and get paid.

But believers are held to a higher standard, and we should be considering our role model, and the hope we place in Him.

That’s why we need to step up!

In all we do, let’s do it for His glory.

When we brush our teeth, leave the sink cleaner than it was, at work, be the light in the darkness (don’t bring donuts, they’re dead food!), in school, wear faith inspired attire, on the road, be courteous and give other drivers a break…

There’s more to following Jesus than walking in His footsteps. We must also labor in His name and offer our time and energy as sacrifices to God.

Yes, going the extra mile takes extra work. But as God promises, with more labor comes more riches…

Go to work for God, and go to Him for strength and courage to complete the work He gives you to do for His glory and your prosperity.

And we ask you Lord to help us find joy in your perfect plan.

Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through your Word, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by the truth as we spread the good news to one and all,
And lead the lost to You.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us,
To bless our lives and fill us with hope.
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and our place with you in Heaven
According to your ways, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done, here on Earth and through the vast Universe,
May our hearts be filled with your everlasting love and grace.
Praises to You God, Amen!
