The Joy that comes with Marriage

I just had the most exciting week of my life – A clever dance spread over 7 days preceding my wedding to Elizabeth. I cannot describe how endearing it’s been to court her and now have her as my wife. Together, we will do great things!

We married before God on Saturday so we could get started on our mission as husband and wife, a path driven by purpose, love and faith.

I pray our Lord continues to blow wind in our sails as we enter marriage, and commit the rest of our lives to one another. Elizabeth and I spoke our vows standing on a windy beach hand in hand, it was superb.

As I sit here a married man I pray for all those who are a true union before God and those who are in relationships headed in that direction. I believe as long as Elizabeth and I keep focused on God’s word we will have a blessed marriage. But what does the bible say about marriage?

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body,[d] of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”[e] 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” (Ephesians 5:22-33).

Simply put husbands are to treat their wives with utmost respect and Christ like love. Women are to submit to God through their husbands. Simple choices often lead to simple pleasures. Appreciating the value of each decision we make is at the root of this weeks message which spells out “marriage gets you one step closer to Heaven”!

Making excuses for a “sinful” relationship robs people of the true joy of commitment powered by faith. A marriage before God pulls you that much closer to Him.

We all know right from wrong according to Him. This applies to relationships as well. God will bless us as good Christians but might not go the same way when dealing with our choice of mates.

Asking for his blessing may reveal answers to questions never imagined. I can testify to the fact marriage has been a phenomenal experience. “I” became “we”. Now, I am a better man for it. Elizabeth truly completes me.

Those of you who are married are fortunate to be among the strongest believers today and most likely are living purposeful lives serving God one way or another. Continue to live according to His will and rejoice with Him in Heaven.

Some people are involved in relationships NOT according to God’s way, these individuals often drown in doubt and miss getting a taste of commitment through the art of marriage. They also miss out on the Lord’s blessings and the great joy that come with obedience to God.

I want to thank all of you for your gifts, messages and phone calls. This has been a most exciting week, Praise God for all of you! Let’s ask for His blessing together…

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you Lord Father for your blessings in our lives
We praise you God for looking over us,
Each and every single day you are there
Keeping us safe, sound, fed, warm, and healthy.

Father we pray you will bless our relationships
And inspire those not yet walking into that light
To join in the wonderful dance that is marriage.

Lord we ask you to continue to look after our families,
Our friends, and all those who seek you,
That you answer our prayers and lead our footsteps
So that we may follow you to Heaven.

Thank you lord father for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
