Living as Jesus would

Earlier this week, Elizabeth and I were reading “40 days of Purpose” by Rick Warren where we both are strengthening our relationship with God following along Rick, Saddleback Church’s senior pastor and a role model of mine.

One particular chapter touched me and I decided to share some of the specifics to being a model Christian…

Live as Jesus would!

Sounds easy enough doesn’t it? Actually, it’s the hardest thing you can ever do! The good news are, much like driving a car or even speaking a foreign language, it gets easier with time, easier with practice.

Living as Jesus did is near impossible considering 2000 years separate His walking the earth and ours. On the other hand, living according to His life is not only possible, it’s our mission!

To fulfill this mission, God surrounds us with people of all backgrounds whom we are responsible for creating relationships with. Some of these folks help us grow in our Faith with God while others are driven to us in search of answers only we can provide.

Jesus surrounded himself with disciples who became teachers themselves. The first four books of the New Testament will help you confirm that fact as well as learn how to touch others positively sharing God’s light.

Ask yourself this question: What would my best friends write about me? If you like the answer, God bless you! Otherwise, maybe it’s time to get closer to God and join others in worship instead of continuing on the path you are on like a wild animal ignoring the power of the Lord and His ways.

Remember, it’s not too late to seek Jesus Christ and ask God for His unconditional love. You are not only entitled to His love, as a follower of Jesus you deserve it!

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for your love, your forgiveness,
And for looking after us like only you can.

Lord we ask you to continue to guide our footsteps
Leading us to the way everlasting,
And inspire us to touch others positively
According to your will, to your word the Bible.

God we pray you will provide all we need in the days ahead
And that you will do the same for our friends,
Our families and those who seek you Lord.

God we thank you for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
