Hebrews 13:4 Divorcing By Faith

Hebrews 13:4 Divorcing By Faith

4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”

Hebrews 13:4

In the eyes of God, marriage is sacred. Sadly, in the hearts of American men and women, marriage is just a contract.

In America, the great Harlot, when one of the parties fails the other, or checks out of his or her marriage vows, American Christians believe they are not required to honor the marriage.

And that’s a huge problem.

When a marriage that was intended to be a blessing turns into a curse, raising the white flag comes naturally to immature believers.

Although divorce is glamorized in America, it comes at a great price: A never ending trail of pain and suffering.

How?

Coming together, and not drawing apart, is the basis for marriage. Dissolving a marriage is essentially quitting on our spouse and more importantly, turning our backs on God.

Of course, there are countless excuses we can use to blame a spouse and check out of a marriage, but in the end, the truth of the matter is, very little good comes from transgressing against God through divorce.

What to do when one spouse checks out of the marriage?

Pray.

Pray for God to intervene and restore your marriage.

Pray for strength, courage and clarity.

Pray for God’s love to flow onto your spouse and yourself, for God to cover you both with forgiveness and hope.

Next, seek counseling, fellowship and guidance. Even if your spouse is not interested in reconciliation, there is much to be learned in counseling, in talk therapy.

Whatever you do, be sure to honor and glorify God in your actions, in your endeavors.

Divorce should not be an option, however when a spouse does check out of a marriage, the other partner has little to no choice but to go along with a dissolution, and do so in a godly manner.

If you are involved in a divorce and you seek to find a path reconciliation, your next step should be prayer… Then, fellowship…

If you have given up on your marriage and are the one seeking a divorce, before you completely destroy something sacred, send me an email and tell me, why do you feel entitled to sin against God in this way?

Marriage is sacred.

In His word, God reveals that what He has joined together, no man or woman should try to separate.

With this in mind, if you’ve chosen the path toward Divorce Ville, you better have biblical reasons or, get ready to face God’s wrath at some point down the road…
