Giving in to Temptation

I’ve had yet another blessed week in Florida fulfilling my life’s mission serving God any way I can. This week, I got to help people with Bible Study, Online Marketing, Web Design and Photography. I made more smiles than I can count and am thankful for the opportunities God delivered throughout the week.

Sunday brought on something quite disturbing. A perfect afternoon at the beach turned ugly when I was approached by two young women looking to give in to temptation. Sex and drugs. These two vacationing nineteen year old girls from Michigan walked up to me and bluntly invited me to their hotel room for an ecstasy laced night of sexual debauchery. They were clueless I was a man of God and frankly, I’m not even sure it mattered to them.

What has this world come to? I mean what education, and what faith are these kids being taught? I have to admit, I’m still in shock.

From free speech to legalized prostitution, gluttony, alcohol abuse, smoking, illegal and prescription drug addiction, premarital sex and even divorce, America has become breeding ground for the devil’s work. If you want to know why Americans are so miserable, or broke, or without jobs, or single handedly raising children, look at the level of temptation the people around you are giving in to. Look in the mirror! It’s really that simple.

The bible teaches us how to resist temptation, also tells us what is to come for those who give in to temptation embracing sin with careless abundance.

7 Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son, But a companion of gluttons shames his father. 8 One who increases his possessions by usury and extortion Gathers it for him who will pity the poor. 9 One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. 10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He himself will fall into his own pit; But the blameless will inherit good.” (Proverbs 28:7-10)

Slowly but surely, more and more people are ignoring the word of God drawing their own paths for their lives which lead straight to hell. Ask yourself this question? Are you single, married or divorced? Odds are, those of you who are single have already had sex, those of you who are married had premarital sex or had at least one divorce and those of you who are divorced broke a vow made at the alter before God. One question for all, and most answers show sin. How truly sad.

The problem with “giving in” to temptation is that in reality, it’s giving up on our faith in God. Much like a piece of metal you bend back and forth, habitual sinners become weaker with each sin and eventually break apart all together. In the end, the spiritually strong stand tall while the weak drift toward hell. Most drifters easily justify their means by claiming there’s no heaven or hell, those are the ones who will be left behind to burn when Jesus, the lamb of God returns to open the gates to eternal life.

When in doubt, always remember this scripture from the book of Matthew: “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)

Don’t give-in. Or give-up. Be strong and driven to obey all mighty God. Temptation is human. “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

The choice is yours. With God watching your every move, the consequences are His.

Let’s pray.

Father God;
We thank you for all that surrounds us, for your love.
We pray that you make us stronger in the days ahead
So that we can make the right choices
And not give-in to temptation, to evil.

Lord we ask that you surround us with your light
And guide our footsteps so that we become more like you
Living righteous lives serving you.

God please answer our prayers and those of the ones who seek you
Inspire evil souls to open their hearts to you
And lead them to everlasting life.

Thank you all mighty God for your presence in our lives.

Praise God,
Amen!
