I had a birthday earlier this week and wanted to share a special message with all of you. Walking around Disney World Resorts yesterday witnessing such great happiness helped me reaffirm the fact that happiness is a state of mind, a place where we decide to be rather than a reward for our actions.
Much of our attention and praise is often directed toward highly visible and successful people. But occasionally we read about an ordinary, obscure person being rewarded for many years of faithful service. It may be a school custodian, a cafeteria worker, a handyman or, in this case, the clerk at the Contemporary Resort video arcade at Disney, who has served kids of all ages in a dependable and unselfish way for over ten years.
That kind of reliability often goes unnoticed, but I believe it is a powerful picture of how we are to live. Although consistency may not be flashy, days add up to a life of great significance to God, providing happiness to all those touched by these ordinary people.
If we live faithfully for Christ, living as He did, God has promised to reward us at His appointed time. Until then, happiness surrounds us in each person God puts across our path.
When we long for happiness God says, “It is all around you.”
When we ache for recognition God says, “I see you.”
When our service is public or private, our responsibility is the same- to be faithful.
Be faithful in God, knowing He doesn’t ask us to be successful, He only requires us to be faithful. Serve Him with all your might, spread happiness where you find it, in and through those around you.

Father God;
We thank you for your blessings in our lives
And for looking after us, our families and friends,
We thank you for your forgiveness and your inspiration
Leading us to Eternal Life.
Lord we ask you to strengthen each of us
To pursue happiness through those who surround us
Serving you with each smile, each stroke of our broom,
Or each client that walks in and out of the store that is our lives.
God we pray you will continue to bless us
And those around us,
Inspiring nonbelievers to join your family
And rejoice with you in Heaven.
God we love you and thank you for all that surrounds us!
