John 15:12-13
“12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
To all those who served, and to their loved ones, thank you.
Memorial Day became a federal holiday in in US in 1971, and it is held each year on the last Monday of May throughout the United States.
On this holiday, Americans honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Just as Jesus did on the cross, countless soldiers have given their lives out of duty, dedication and out of love.
The kind of love parents pour out on their children, a love so deep, so genuinely pure that it leads men and women to put their lives on the line for countless people they don’t even know.
I was blessed to train with the Canadian Armed forces on two separate occasions back in the 1980’s. I was selected to fly F-18 Hornet fighter jets but sadly, I was unable to complete training and because if this, I had a very short stay in the military.
More recently, I served our nation as 2nd Lieutenant with Civil Air Patrol, the official United States Air Force Auxiliary.
And at 58 years old, that’s as close as I’m going to get to active military servicein the US and I am immensely grateful for God’s plan and for the divine path He has me on as one of His civilian servants.
However, for countless Americans, the military was the Lord’s plan for them. And, their service to their American brothers and sisters eventually lead each one to their death while selflessly serving this great nation.
Their sacrifice is at the root of the celebration we call, Memorial Day.
On this special day in America, we are called to honor those who fell for our freedom.
It is with a heart filled with gratitude and love that I give praise to all those who fight for freedom, and lift up to God those who perished in the line of duty.
May each one rejoice with God in Heaven forever!
To him who has an ear, let him hear.

Father God;
We thank you for your presence in our lives,
We praise you Lord for the wisdom found through John’s Gospel,
And we ask you Lord to help us find joy in your perfect plan.
Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through your Word, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by the truth as we spread the good news to one and all,
And lead the lost to You.
God we pray that you will continue to bless us,
To bless our lives and fill us with hope.
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and our place with you in Heaven
According to your ways, your everlasting wisdom and strength.
May your will be done, here on Earth and through the vast Universe,
May our hearts be filled with your everlasting love and grace.
Praises to You God, Amen!
