Grace Marie is Born!

God blessed my wife Elizabeth and I with a beautiful baby girl this past week, Grace Marie was born on Thursday, August 19 at 4:51pm and I am glad to report she is a perfect, healthy gorgeous child!

Grace is our first child and quite the addition to our home which until now consisted of two dogs and a cat. Pets can be wonderful companions and certainly depend on Elizabeth and I but a child is far more dependent on us both, not only for nourishment, but for values, love and guidance.

Much like God is a parent to all His children, we are now responsible for leading Grace’s footsteps knowing full well she has a mind of her own. Already, she has proven to be quite a challenge when she’s hungry, bothered by a wet diaper or simply bored.

Comforting her, holding her and reminding her everything is OK often achieves nothing. She continues being fussy and we continue to wish there was something we could do to soothe her obvious discomfort.

The funny thing is, sometimes there isn’t anything we can do to help her calm down. She’s just going to be in a baby mood and that’s the way it is.

God understands this hence His tendency to take a step back when we’re being fussy. He knows sometimes it’s best to let us do our thing. So don’t be surprised if your decision making turns God silent in your life, we’ve all experienced this and odds are, we all will continue to experience it for the rest of our lives.

The fact of the matter is, God is a leader that offers guidelines and also, a father figure that performs miracles. Much like a parent, he has the power to make our lives grand or, to turn our days into never ending nightmares.

Those of you who are or have been parents understand this, Elizabeth and I are only beginning to realize the influence we have on Grace and how each moment counts. Each action produces a reaction and it is critical we remember this each time we are faced with a decision.

We have much to learn but we are confident with God’s help and guidance, we will meet the challenges He will set before us and be great parents to our child.

We must never forget we all have the very best father anyone could ever have and that He is there for us when we need Him. We also need to remind ourselves that we must live according to His rules or face the consequences of our actions.

Let’s Pray!

Father God;
We thank you for your blessings in our lives
For your guidance
, your unconditional love,
Your forgiveness and your strength.

Lord we pray you will continue to look after us
Like a father does his child,
And that you will provide all we need
To fulfill our mission in this life.

Thank you Lord for all that you are doing in our lives
And for always being there,
Ready to listen, to comfort us
In times when we need you most.

God we love you and thank you for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
