Worshiping God without a Denomination

Praising God should come naturally. Regardless of your denomination, worshiping the Lord should be as simple as speaking to an old friend. It seems some people at a local Pentecostal church don’t agree with this point of view.

Elizabeth and I attended quite the energetic venue earlier today and found ourselves attacked by a man of Pentecostal Faith as he sung, danced and praised the holy ghost atop amens and hallelujahs coming from all corners of the room. It was pure prejudice against Roman Catholics, Lutherans and nondenominational Christians to name a few. Not quite the inspirational service we are usually blessed with at Saddleback…

Never the less, this morning’s extravaganza at the Sun Coast Cathedral was informative and served it’s purpose. Liz and I now know what this Pentecostal church is about and we are both thankful for the time we spent among such dynamic worshipers.

Needless to say, we won’t be returning to that Cathedral.

Visiting such an extreme church helped me realize we all are wired differently and cannot all fit in the same mold when worship is concerned. I have attended a dozen churches the past few years and have to admit having a favorite, a place where I really feel I’m home. No matter how hard I try, nothing compares to it or even comes close.

The problem is my church is in California while I reside in Florida. What to do about this? I am still trying to find an answer to this important issue and I continuously pray God will help me through it.

You may be in a similar situation, or forced to worship at venues you don’t necessarily agree with or even find yourself having difficulty relating to the pastors at your church. What is important is that you remain Faithful to God and continue to worship and grow using every opportunity the Lord throws your way.

It’s not about the team you’re on, it’s about the effort you put in.

Consider this next time you find yourself questioning the church you worship at or the people you find yourself surrounded with while praising God.

Go out there and do your best to be more like Jesus regardless of what’s happening around you. You will be rewarded for it!

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for looking after us
And for allowing us to worship you
In so many ways, from morning to night.

Lord we ask you to inspire us to be the best we can be
And lead our footsteps guiding us in this life
So that we may rejoice with you in the next.

God we thank you for every church around the world
For every nation, every race that looks to you
For hope, for love and most of all, for Faith
And ask you to enlighten each one of us
To love one another no matter what.

God we love you and thank you for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
