Romans 12:1 Living Sacrifices

Romans 12:1 Living Sacrifices

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

Romans 12:1

We are all God’s creation, and the least we can do with the body He gave us is to honor Him with it.

It’s no secret to anyone that our lifestyles dictate the amount of exercise we get on a daily basis. Work, school or other obligations come first, and our bodies typically react to our lifestyle, rather than lead the way.

And that’s a huge problem across the globe.

Because exercise regularly requires a ton of discipline, the kind of discipline very few among us have naturally, I researched the Bible for words of encouragement I could use to lead my temple to a more glorious state than it has been in quite some time.

You see, to me, working out is no fun at all. I’ll play sports for hours, but exercising with weights, machines or within a group class is not my cup of tea.

So, for me to overcome the many hurdles I face before a workout, I seek a worshipful purpose to my routine, combining both faith and fitness.

For many among us who are trying to lose weight, exercising can feel like a punishment for the things we ate.

But, there’s more to exercise then weight loss. It’s no secret that there are tons of benefits of exercise. But if you’re anything like most folks, even knowing the benefits of exercise isn’t enough to get them moving.

But, when I make my workouts an instrument of worship, exercising gets personal.

I then have the power to glorify God in my own hands and with my entire body.

That takes my motivation to a much deeper level.

Today, for example, I joined a friend for a Fit Yoga class.

I had never been to a Fit Yoga class, but I gave it my best shot as a sacrifice to God. I can tell you with great assurance that I do not look forward to Fit Yoga again, but if I ever find myself in the same situation, I’ll bring a change of clothes and be sure to have 911 on speed dial… I’ll also slow way down during the jumping jack sequences.

I’ll stick to running on the beach and swimming laps in our pool, while listening to worship music and giving praise to God for the abundance of blessings in my life, and the lives of those around me.

If you are not honoring and glorifying God with your temple, I invite you to reach out to me for accountability, advice and encouragement so together we can bring glory to our heavenly Father and get fit in the process.

Father God;
We thank you for your presence in our lives,
We praise you Lord for the wisdom found through Paul,
And we ask you Lord to help us find joy in your perfect plan.

Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through your Word, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by the truth as we spread the good news to one and all,
And lead the lost to You.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us,
To bless our lives and fill us with hope.
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and our place with you in Heaven
According to your ways, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done, here on Earth and through the vast Universe,
May our hearts be filled with your everlasting love and grace.
Praises to You God, Amen!
