2 Corinthians 5:7 Walking By Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7 Walking By Faith

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 5:7

Seems easy enough.

But then, life happens.

And when life happens, our focus changes because, well, life sucks.

If you’re anything like me, you’re nowhere near the place you thought you would be at your age.

I never imagined living in Deerfield Beach, and working for a pack out company. I would have never guessed Elizabeth and I are divorced, and that my daughters Grace, Trinity, Faith and Mercy would eventually be the victims of a broken marriage, a nasty break-up and ensuing everlasting marital nightmare.

I still can’t believe I’m a part of such a complete and utter disaster.

Worse yet, I very likely allowed it to happen…

Let me digress.

I’ve had visions my entire life. Not only dreams, actual visual depictions I interpreted as predictions, a read into the unavoidable future.

But in recent months, I’ve come to realize the visions were indeed plausible futures, one with God and the other, without.

It seems the visions I’ve been blessed with were indeed warnings.

And even though I had been warned, I allowed sin to infiltrate my life.

And, sin came from the most unexpected source: my beloved wife.

First, laziness. I allowed my ex-wife to stay home and homeschool our daughters, garden, bake, lounge by the pool, read, jog, and enjoy countless outings 2-3 times a week at the zoo, Disney World, the beaches and countless other venues.

And, she didn’t work for the last 16 years of our marriage, and this placed an enormous financial weight on my shoulders. She categorically refused, on several occasions to help her family by working only one day a month…

Don’t get me wrong, my ex-wife is a devoted servant of God. She volunteers for everything! I mean she doesn’t have a job so giving her time away for free and helping others makes for a wonderful, purpose driven life.

And, I allowed it to happen. I worked and paid for all of it.

Instead of contributing to her family, my beloved ex-wife spent hours jogging, reading fiction books, painting her nails, volunteering at her Baptist home and being a star everywhere.

Except in her marriage.

How in the world did I get into this mess?

I’m sure you have a mess of your own. Mine, sadly, was self inflicted when I trusted a woman God warned me about, then went ahead and brought 4 innocent children into the world with a combative, deceitful Jezebel who failed at her first marriage after she divorced her first husband, a US Marines and American hero.

So now what?

Walk by faith.

I can dwell on misery, or focus on God and the countless blessings in my life.

God showed me she was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, a crafty deceiver who reads the Word but does not live it out where it matters most.

Long before we were married, He gave me a vision of this furious beast hurling insults at me, spewing venom like a satanic viper. He warned me of the living hell I would experience if I pursued this woman.

I went ahead and married her anyway.

And eventually, the vision came true.

I watched my best friend become my worst enemy. She destroyed our marriage and broke our family apart.

So, walking by faith ain’t as easy as it looks these days.

But, I know that God’s plan is perfect, and I have no plan B… So I’m all in with Jesus!!!

It is my hope and prayer that you will set aside the darkness in your life and seek God’s light, his love, grace and mercy.

Whatever you do when facing adversity or persecution, remember you are not alone….. Just keep walking by faith.

Father God;
We thank you for your presence in our lives,
We praise you Lord for the wisdom bestowed upon Paul and John,
And we ask you Lord to help us find joy in your perfect plan.

Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through your Word, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by the truth as we spread the good news to one and all,
And lead the lost to You.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us,
To bless our lives and fill us with hope.
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and our place with you in Heaven
According to your ways, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done, here on Earth and through the vast Universe,
May our hearts be filled with your everlasting love and grace.
Praises to You God, Amen!
