Making the Most of Every Witnessing Opportunity

“One day every tongue will confess, every knee will bow either willingly or not. I choose to confess and bow willingly.” Quoting the word of God to the passenger sitting next to me on a flight to Atlanta, I am driven to make the most of every opportunity to preach the word of God.

Flying has to be one of the most effective ways to witness, after all those sitting next to you have nowhere to go, they’re tied down by a seat belt! This past Wednesday I flew out of Tampa and allowed the holy spirit to guide me through yet another great witnessing opportunity.

Dan, the passenger sitting next to me seemed uninterested in conversation. Pulling down the window shades as the plane taxied onto the runway getting ready for take-off, Dan’s body language depicted a person living in darkness.

As the plane sped up and took flight over Tampa Bay I used exclaimed:

“Unbelievable isn’t it?”

Dan replied “What’s that? Taking off?”

“Yeah” I said, “just like that we’re airborne. Gets me every time!”

“It’s pretty amazing alright” Dan replied.

“You fly a lot?” I asked. And the fulfillment of my day’s mission had begun…

Striking conversation is a hurdle all witnesses must overcome in order to fulfill our mission as ministers of God. How else can we share our testimony? Conversation is the best way to sow seeds that have the potential to produce harvest beyond our own understanding.

Too many believers are incapable of witnessing to strangers feeling they are not equipped with tools necessary to successfully engage in spiritual conversation. The most powerful tool involved in Christian apologetics is faith in Jesus Christ and being able to confidently share our testimony as well as quote scripture meant to inspire non believers to seek answers in the bible.

What is a testimony and why do Christians need one? A testimony is a recollection of the events that led to someone being saved from spending eternity in hell. Christians need a well composed personal testimony so we can paint a precise picture of our lives before and after we are born again.

We need two different testimonies, one aimed at Christians, those familiar evangelical Christian expressions and another completely different testimony targeted at those not familiar with terms such as salvation, gospel, verse, scripture, etc. For help with writing your testimony, follow this link.

While sharing a testimony can be powerful and certainly at the root of great harvest, being able to share scripture often prompts curiosity that in turn lead skeptics to seek answers from the word of God.

The verses I share most often are:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

11 It is written: ” ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ “12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:11-12)

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)

32 Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 32:32-33)

You now need to ask yourself this question: Are you a missionary or among those in the mission field? As a missionary you will need to be prepared for adversity understanding the enemy has a stronghold on many people which he is not willing to surrender without a fight.

I invite you to call on this ministry for answers, guidance and prayer certain to help you with the fulfillment of your mission as you answer the call to seize every opportunity brought on by God. Whatever you do, do it to honor the Lord knowing that you are blessed to be a blessing. Always remember, doing nothing is never an option acceptable to God. Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for all the blessings you surround us with
And for the challenges you have brought in our lives,
We ask for your strength in difficult times
And pray you will be there each time we need you.

Lord we thank you for your all mighty power
Which continues to drive and guide us,
And pray you will provide all that we need
To grow physically and spiritually.

God please forgive our sins
Forgive our hurtful decisions,
And lead us toward purpose driven living
So we may fulfill our mission in this life.

We thank you for helping us mature spiritually
Through your word the bible,
And ask that you continue to bless our lives
Like only you can.

We thank you for your love and all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
