Looking for Love in the Right Places

Late last night I was approached by a young woman seeking companionship. She opened with “Hey, sexy are you into tantric sex?” I knew right away this person needed my help. This was not the first time I was approached online, and I’m sure it won’t be the last, somehow the internet has become the worldwide pick-up bar of our generation.

The fact that the internet is so impersonal allows for moral promiscuity, which is far less acceptable in the real world. A respectable woman would not approach a stranger in public and open with such blatant sexuality, and any respectable man would not be responsive to such a vulgar approach.

So how did I respond to the woman? I first tried to determine what her marital status was. In learning she was single and “looking”, it became obvious she was one of many looking for love in all the wrong places. She admitted to participating in cybersex with a man in Australia, and justified herself by explaining that webcam peepshows were for entertainment only. I was prompt to remind her that this cyberstranger could be a married man and that she was the source of temptation that otherwise may not exist.

As servants of God, our actions, no matter how harmless they appear, always yield consequences, often without our knowing. It is our duty to help others refrain from giving into temptation, or avoid being the source of temptation. This way, by walking in Christ’s footsteps, we inspire others to walk the same path, ensuring a positive outcome.

There’s nothing wrong with looking for love, God created us out of love, to love, not only one person but all those around us. However, there are righteous ways to go about it. If you behave as a godly person, you will attract godly people into your life, all the while serving God.

If you are single and “looking”, I invite you to pull yourself together and find a godly way to complete your circle. If God has already blessed you with a partner to share your life, help those around you to complete their life as well. The rewards for following these guidelines are unmeasurable and will outlast this lifetime.

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you
for looking over us
Each and every day,
For providing all we need
So that we may follow in your footsteps.

Lord we ask you to enlighten our days with love
And help those looking for love,
Help them find what they need
To go through life serving you through those around us.

God we thank you for your strength
And for inspiring us to be the very best we can be,
We thank you for putting us to work for you
In so many ways.

God we love you and thank you for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
