Grab your Sword and ready yourself for the War

It’s no surprise believers have been under spiritual attack long before God sent His son to live and die among us. So why were Elizabeth and I so shocked to hear a Disney cast member bash Christians during a recent visit? While telling us about a special event later that day, she shared “just because they’re Christians doesn’t mean they’re saints!”

She followed with an anti-Christian testimony that quickly turned into a spiritual attack. More often than not, Elizabeth and I would have rebuked this woman’s claims and shared our testimony however, this proved to be an opportunity to listen rather than one to witness. Sort of like a faithful spy, we both walked away well informed and better equipped to handle the ongoing spiritual war that surrounds us each day.

Thanks to an apologetics class we are a part of at Calvary Chapel, we have been blessed to learn how to defend ourselves when under spiritual attack. Until you have access to such interactive teaching, the word of God should help you reinforce your spiritual armor.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:10-17)

Taking on God’s word as our sword, we are then able to defend ourselves as we continue to take part in the greatest war of all time, one that leads to eternal life or to outer darkness.

What you need to know about other faiths is that they all have a different point of view on God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. It is important that you always remember the immense price unbelievers will pay for their rebuking God’s word and His son Jesus Christ.

Still we should pray for those who wage war against us. Since every person on earth is God’s creation, and are are loved by God, we are called to pray for everyone who trespasses us trusting that our Lord knows best and that judgment awaits all of us. When praying for our enemies, we must ask God to reveal Himself to them. We must ask that nonbelievers open their hearts to God’s promises.

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)

Never underestimate the power or prayer or the tremendous beauty of God’s plan for His children. It is greatly unfortunate not everyone will inherit a place in His kingdom as “Many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)

Ready yourself against spiritual assailants. Pick up your sword daily and become one with it for there is not stronger steel than the word of God. There is no stronger defense than your testimony and relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no better place than Heaven where our father awaits us.

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for all that surrounds us, for your love.
We pray you will strengthen our Faith and our minds
So we can live righteous lives walking in your footsteps.

Lord we pray you will continue to guide us
And inspire us to love those around us like you love us,
Unconditionally, eternally.

God please forgive our sins and those of our peers
See us through another week on your magnificent earth
And lead us to everlasting life in Heaven as only you can.

Thank you all mighty God for your presence in our lives.

Praise God,
Amen!
