From Milk to Cookies

Earlier this week my wife Elizabeth and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We decided to make it a special day even though our special day fell on a Tuesday so we went on a date to Clearwater Beach, where we were married on December 6, 2003.

Since I first met my darling wife I noticed many changes in her personality. Gradually, it has become obvious to me Elizabeth is becoming more and more like Christ…

I am reminded of a verse which rings in my ear when I witness such powerful transformations. “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28)

Her thirst for the word of God is simply awe inspiring; Her dedication toward God’s church continues to fuel my own spiritual fire. Elizabeth is growing so quickly, right before my eyes.

I am blessed to be a part of my wife’s walk and gladly admit my tremendous love for her. I am glad to abide by the word: “Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” (Ephesians 5:28)

I am also fortunate to truly feel that Elizabeth and I are bound forever, again according to the word’s commands. A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives.” (1 Corinthians 7:39)

Understanding it’s only been two years, I know there is something special about our marriage. Not only is it a contract between two people but it’s our promise to God that we will serve Him together, as husband and wife according to His word: “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.” (Ephesians 5:23)

I will keep thanking the Lord for each day I get to spend with Elizabeth, and am glad my wife and I are walking with Jesus Christ. “That each one of you know how to take a wife for himself in holiness and honor.” (1 Thessalonians 4:4)

I do believe Elizabeth has tasted the sweetness of the spiritual fruit she keeps harvesting as her hunger for spiritual food continues to grow exponentially. “And have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come.” (Hebrews 6:5)

Much like our sixteen month old toddler who’s now enjoying tasty Spaghetti O’s, Lizzy started out on the same spiritual milk we all fed on. These days, Elizabeth is definitely biting on solid food and it’s just beautiful to watch- I just love watching a hungry person eat!

Are you hungry for the word? Are you even in the word? If you are looking for God’s light, it’s in His book! I invite you to immerse yourself into the word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you. It’s happening all around me, it can happen to anyone- Just believe, then go from spiritual milk to heavenly cookies!

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for all that surrounds us and for your love.
We ask that you keep us from Evil and watch over us
And that you inspire us to keep walking in your footsteps
Living righteous lives enriching those around us.

Lord we pray you will inspire all of us
To seek your word, to learn your ways
And through faith obey your commands.

God we ask that you forgive our sins
And cleanse us of Evil like only you can
So that we may rejoice in your ever loving grace.

Thank you all mighty God for all that you’ve given us!

Praise God,
Amen!
