Many convince themselves that life will be better after they get married, have a baby, then another. Then the same people get frustrated that the kids aren’t old enough and they’ll be more content when they are.
After that, people are frustrated that they have teenagers to deal with… “We will certainly be happy when they’re out of that stage!”
They tell themselves that life will be better, more complete, when their spouse gets their act together, when they get a nicer car, are able to go on a real vacation, when they retire.
The truth is, there’s no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Our lives will always be filled with challenges. It’s best to admit this to ourselves. Know this and decide to be happy anyway.
One of my favorite quotes continues to be “You can’t control the wind but you can adjust your sails!”
This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to share your time and remember that time waits for no one…
Stop waiting until you’re finished with school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until you get a new home or a new car or until your car and home are paid for, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you’ve had a drink, until you’ve sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination. And so it is said, work like you don’t need the money, love like you’ve never been hurt and dance like no one’s watching…
We thank you for your blessings in our lives
And for all that you make possible in our lives,
We thank you Lord for allowing us to worship you
And for breathing life into our lungs each day.
God we pray you will continue to lead our footsteps
And help us become more like you,
We ask you to look after us, our families and our friends
And answer the prayers of those in need.
We thank you for your forgiveness
Your unconditional love and your guidance,
And pray for your strength in the days ahead
So that we may feel happiness from within.
God we love you and thank you for all that surrounds us!
