Celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ

T’is the season to be jolly, may God bring his blessings upon you and shower all those around you with His eternal love!

Christmas is right around the corner, aside shopping, sending cards and attending parties, I thought it would be nice to spend a few minutes reflecting on the reason why we jump through hoops each year around this time…

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)

This is the time when God sent his son Jesus to be born into this world to breathe the same air we breath, wear the same garments we clothe ourselves with, walk the same roads we travel and live as one of us. It happened a little over two thousand years ago and thankfully, we continue to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ to this day.

Most of us enjoy the fruits of holiday season, time off work, festive food and presents yet not as many truly carry the holiday spirit throughout the entire year working for God rather than ourselves. What most part-time Christians may not realize is that there will come a time of great regret for those not involved in serving the Lord with a full heart.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work.” (Revelation 22:12)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.” (2 Corinthians 5:11)

The holiday season should not be taken for granted instead it should be embraced and enjoyed to it’s fullest. Most importantly, find grace in feeding the homeless, call an old friend, share your testimony, preach God’s word.

It’s no secret your holiday season will be as fulfilling as God wants it to be. Be merry and remain thankful for the birth of Christ and His time among us. When faced with dilemmas, simply ask God “how would Jesus deal with this if He were here today”, I am confident He will answer you…

Make this Christmas a great one, for yourself and all those around you. Keep a loving heart and spread God’s light all around!

Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for sending your son Jesus on this day
Long ago but not long enough for us to forget
,
That you came to live a perfect life among us
To teach us all that truly matters.

Lord father we pray that you will give us a great Christmas
And do the same for our friends, our families,
And most importantly, that you answer the prayers
Of those who seek and reach out to you.

God we thank you for looking after us each day
And blessing us with all that we have,
With all that we are.

Thank you Lord father for all that surrounds us!

Praise God,
Amen!
