Acts 1:9-11 Jesus Ascends to Heaven

At Mount Olivet, Jesus fulfilled His mission among the living by delivering one last command for His apostles, that they should return to Jerusalem to await the anointment of their faith through baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus had already explained their baptism would be of spiritual nature, more than symbolic meaning, where John baptized believers with water, the apostles would be baptized by a means more empowering than physical water.

Now, Yeshua fulfills prophecy through ascending to the heavenly Kingdom, at the right hand of God.

9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” (Acts 1:9)

The words spoken at Mount Olivet were instructions to His apostles, that they should return to Jerusalem where God’s perfect plan would be revealed onto them. After Jesus said these words, He was taken up in a cloud.

10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11)

So His message was clearly received, the Lord appointed two angels to remind the apostles of their mission, as spoken by Jesus Himself, they they should advance the gospel to the four corners of the earth as they await the Lord’s triumphant return.

Here, God’s angels call the apostles out with divine familiarity, by naming their home town of Galilee, then assuring them the second coming of the Lord was at hand.

Yeshua’s return would be in the same manner He ascended to the Father, in a cloud to the chant of angels. Each believer should look for this triumphant revelation of a promise made long before we were born, the hope held as a beacon of divine light to guide each one of us as we navigate through life. Let’s pray!

Father God;
We thank you for your blessings in our lives and for your servant Luke,
We praise you Lord for his wisdom and for his works through this scripture,
We ask you Lord to inspire us to use these verses in our lives
As we grow in you through the teachings of your faithful apostle.

Lord we ask you to strengthen us each day as we endure through battles,
Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through truth, the gospel, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by your word as we spread your gospel to one and all
Becoming examples of faith through our character as we walk the narrow path.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us, to bless our lives and fill us with hope
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and a place with you in heaven
According to your word, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done
In our lives, for your life.

We thank you for your love and all you bless us with each day.

Praise God,
Amen!
