2 Timothy 2:1-13 Be Strong in Grace

Paul continue his pastoral letter to Timothy, whom he appointed overseer of the Ephesians church. The apostle delivers strength and courage by reminding his “spiritual son” of the trials and tribulation that await those in Christ, to count them as rewards from sacrifices glorifying to Yahweh, our divine Creator.

1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:1-2)

Paul calls on Timothy to rely on the Holy spirit for strength, and courage as the young leader continues to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ, that Yeshua, the Son of God lived a perfect life on earth, resisted Satan and temptation both, then died on the cross crucified for the sins of man, was raised from the dead to fulfill prophecy, and is now sitting at the right hand of Yahweh, the divine Creator and heavenly Father. such teachings should be taught to others as it was breathed onto Timothy by Paul himself.

3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.” (2 Timothy 2:3-6)

Paul describes the christian life one littered with hardship, with challenges hand crafted by the mighty hand of God to build each person in Christ, as we work out our salvation and keep advancing the gospel of the savior, Jesus, Lord of all.

The rules clearly indicate the rewards of each believer are in direct proportion with their works. all those who believe will be saved, but it’s those who glorified God the most who will rejoice in a harvest truly beyond measure.

7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, 9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” (2 Timothy 2:7-10)

Paul calls on the name of the Lord to bless Timothy on his mission to resist temptation as persecution find the young leader of the Ephesians church, which was constantly under attack by the enemy in the form of Greek philosophers, Roman Gnostics and Judaizers, on the prowl for a lost sheep.

The apostle declares the gospel free from captivity, unlike himself under house arrest for preaching the word of Yahweh, and sharing the good news to the Gentiles.

11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. 12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:11-13)

By faith, all believers will be raised from the dead and inherit a place in heaven along side our divine Father, Yahweh, the creator of the universe and all the creatures that live in it. By God’s grace, and according to His promise, Christians are forgiven of their sins and rewarded according to their ways. To receive Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to heaven, where eternal life awaits… Let us pray!

Father God;
We thank you for your blessings in our lives and for your servant Paul,
We praise you Lord for his wisdom and for his works through this scripture,
We ask you Lord to inspire us to use these verses in our lives
As we grow in you through the teachings of your faithful apostle.

Lord we ask you to strengthen us each day as we endure through battles,
Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,
Shield us from evil through truth, the gospel, salvation and prayer,
Guide us to abide by your word as we spread your gospel to one and all
Becoming examples of faith through our character as we walk the narrow path.

God we pray that you will continue to bless us, to bless our lives and fill us with hope
We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and a place with you in heaven
According to your word, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done
In our lives, for your life.

We thank you for your love and all you bless us with each day.

Praise God,
Amen!
