1 Timothy 2:8-15 Men and Women in the Church

Paul now calls on men to rely on the power of prayer and worship as they surrender their lives to the only one true God, Yahweh, the creator of the universe and all things that live in it.

The apostle also addresses women, laying down for them a clear path, based on faith, how they should present themselves as pleasing, holy sacrifices to the Lord.

8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;” (1 Timothy 2:8)

Paul firmly affirms his burning desire for the men in Corinth to dwell in prayer, and proclaim the name of the one and only begotten son of Yahweh, our God almighty, as each man in Christ should be both reverent and confident. Men should not allow the world or the fear in it to silence our praise to Him that loves us, and worship for He that died for our sins, so that sinners could live to rejoice with Yeshua, the lion, the lamb.

9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.” (1 Timothy 2:9-10)

Directing his attention to the women of Corinth, and all women within the Christian church, that they should also be reverent as well as dress modestly and not adorn themselves in gold, or pearls or even fine clothing. Women should embody their role as one that’s supportive to men, their ruler as appointed by God in His word, by His will.

This scripture clearly teaches us women in Christ should focus on adorning themselves with their deeds rather than jewelry or fancy hair styles as

11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” (1 Timothy 2:11-12)

Paul calls on women within the church to be submissive to men as men in Christ submit to Yahweh, to the very God who gave us life, so we could die of our sins, then through Jesus Christ, only though faith in Yeshua the son of God we are saved from the debt of our sins. We are delivered in faith, through God’s grace. And to honor this covenant, from women, through men, Jesus then God, such a line should be abided to as a sacrifice pleasing to Yahweh.

13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.” (1 Timothy 2:13)

Paul here references to the day of creation, when authority was given to Adam over his wife to be, Eve so that God’s perfect plan could take shape and unravel until this day, when women should continue to serve their creator through men, according to our Father’s will.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.” (1 Timothy 2:14-15)

Paul uses scripture reference to God’s plan for men and women, that together His children should rely on His word, His love and His grace for guidance as we continue our walk along the narrow path that leads to eternal life.

As men are called to work, to toil so that women and children can live to serve Yahweh, the only one true and perfect God, women are called to bear children in a supportive role to men. This is the law given onto believers through Paul, one of the many facets of the law of Christ, of Yeshua, which is based on love. Let us pray!

Father God;
We thank you for your blessings in our lives and for your servant Paul,
We praise you Lord for his wisdom and for his works through this scripture,

Allow us to praise and love each other through faith in you Jesus,

Guide us to abide by your word as we spread your gospel to one and all
Becoming examples of faith through our character as we walk the narrow path.

We ask you Lord to guide our footsteps and lead us to the way everlasting,
Through faith in you Lord we seek salvation and a place with you in heaven
According to your word, your everlasting wisdom and strength.

May your will be done
In our lives, for your life.
